This course focuses on how digital game design is connected to communication. The course covers communication processes in game design, storytelling, character development and game mechanics. In addition, different models and theories of digital game design are analysed and research methods are introduced to the students. In this way, students gain the skills to be effective communicators in digital game design and learn how to make the game experience richer and more immersive.

Course Content: This course covers the history of video games and other game genres. Throughout the course, the history, development and evolution of games are analysed. The effects of games on individual, social and cultural aspects are also discussed. The course also deals with the different genres and innovations that have emerged throughout the historical process of games. The course content outlines the history of games and aims to provide students with an in-depth understanding of the development and evolution of games. Throughout the course, students are expected to learn about different game genres, game mechanics, storytelling and other key elements of game design. The course also focuses on games and gaming communities in different cultures to understand the cultural impact of games and how gaming culture is formed. Examples of the cultural diversity of games and the similarities and differences of games in different cultures are given. The course content aims to provide students with an in-depth understanding of art history. Throughout the course, students will learn about different art periods and styles and gain experience in analysing and interpreting works of art. In addition, the social, cultural and political implications of art are also discussed throughout the course, aiming to help students understand the historical and social context of art. Students are taught perspective, light and shadow, composition and other basic drawing principles. In addition, students will gain experience in modelling natural objects, human figures and other objects. Students gain experience about game objects, physics engine, artificial intelligence, user interface and other game programming topics. In addition, students learn about different game engines (Unity, Unreal Engine, etc.) used in the game development process. Throughout the course, students learn the basic principles of animation and apply techniques such as motion paths, timing and framing. In addition, students learn appropriate techniques for different types of animation.
