Hasan Kalyoncu University Digital Game Design
Department within the Faculty of Communication has accepted its first 30 students in the 2023-2024 academic year. Digital Game Design, the youngest undergraduate department of the Faculty of Communication, aims to train its students as competent individuals who can respond to the needs of the digital game
sector.
In today’s world, the game industry, which continues its rise as a shining star in the rapidly developing technology ecosystem and continues to increase its popularity day by day, the shortage of qualified human resources is increasing.
The Department of Digital Game Design trains game designers who will find a strong place for themselves in the game industry, shape the future with their ideas and gain great success.
The Department of Digital Game Design, which is a multidisciplinary field, offers both theoretical and practical subjects that touch all stages of game production such as game design and development,
graphic design, modelling, creative thinking, game culture, animation, script writing,
music design to students throughout their undergraduate education.
Graduates of the department, when they graduate, have knowledge from all these different fields, but also have the ability to apply this knowledge. In this respect, the Department of Digital Game
Design aims to provide competence to people who want to be successful in the digital game industry in the best way.
The Department of Digital Game Design at HKU was established with a curriculum that will train its students as Turkish game developers and game designers who can compete in the world; in order for them to gain experience, in line with the application-project-oriented education approach, collaborations have been made with stakeholders and professionals who have a say in the game industry, such as Simsoft, The Game Circle.
Young university candidates who want to study in the Department of Digital Game Design must have a diploma certifying that they have graduated from high school or an equivalent school and get a sufficient numerical score from the Higher Education Institutions Examination conducted by ÖSYM. In addition, it is extremely important that young university candidates who want to study in the Department of Digital Game Design and have a
profession must love research and the game world, as well as being creative and having a high dynamism and excitement to share their new ideas with other
people in a concrete project.
The Department of Digital Game Design, with its experienced academic staff, will equip its students with theoretical knowledge in areas such as design, cinema,
art, digital communication and engineering, and will train them as individuals who benefit from information and
new communication technologies, can think creatively and have the ability to use their imagination in the most effective
form, and will contribute to the students to make a name for themselves in the digital game industry with their original projects before they graduate.
Graduates of the Digital Game Design undergraduate programme can continue their careers in the private sector or build an academic career. Graduates can open their own game studios as entrepreneurs and start producing their own games. In addition, they can work as game designer, game developer, graphic designer,
environmental designer, level designer, game music designer, game product manager, game scenario designer, user interface designer, animation designer in line with the needs of game companies. Apart from the game industry, graduates can also find job opportunities in different sectors such as cinema, radio, television, news, advertising, film production, sound production, animation and modelling with the wide range of education they receive during their undergraduate education.
